Glaucoma is a serious eye condition, and one of the leading causes of blindness — when left untreated. With Lake Havasu Family Eyecare’s advanced diagnostic equipment and personalized treatment options, you can count on our doctors to manage your glaucoma and protect your eyesight for years to come.

Types of Glaucoma

There are multiple types of glaucoma with various symptoms, but by far the most common forms are open-angle and angle-closure.

OPEN-ANGLE GLAUCOMA

Accounting for more than 90% of cases, open-angle glaucoma is the most common type and usually develops slowly over many years. It occurs when the drainage path between the cornea and iris becomes blocked, gradually building up fluid and, as a result, pressure.

ANGLE-CLOSURE GLAUCOMA

Although angle-closure is rarer than open-angle, it’s much more urgent and requires immediate medical attention, as symptoms and vision loss can come on quickly. It occurs when the iris restricts or completely clogs the drainage path, preventing fluid circulation and increasing pressure.

Advanced Glaucoma Diagnosis and Treatment

During your regular eye exam, our skilled optometrists use the most precise diagnostic equipment to gain a full understanding of your inner eye health and IOP, allowing them to uncover signs of glaucoma far in advance.

The sooner we discover it, the sooner we can begin treatment to slow glaucoma development and maintain your healthy vision with specialized eye drops, supplements, and more.
